History of Gingerwood Charity Horse Shows
In August of 2006, Gingerwood hosted the first annual Gingerwood Charity Classic Hunter Jumper Show in Stanhope, Prince Edward Island. The number and calibre of exhibitors from Atlantic Canada and New England was truly impressive. Add the 3500 enthusiastic spectators that attended the three-day event - and it was an overwhelming start for a Charity Classic that has continued to grow.
In 2007, The Stanhope Equestrian Challenge, an additional three days of competition, was added to give competitors a chance to compete at two shows back to back thus doubling their opportunity to acquire enough points to make it to the National Equestrian Competition, The Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. The additional competition and increased awareness led to over 10,000 spectators attending the six days of competition in 2008.
The Gingerwood Charity Shows, now the largest and most prestigious outdoor equestrian events in Atlantic Canada, deliver outstanding competition and a schedule of fun family events that make Gingerwood Farm a summer destination for all!
All proceeds from the Gingerwood Charity Classic and the Stanhope Challenge are directed to the Oak Acres Children’s Camp. Our inspiration is the belief that a summer camp experience gives a child “a leg up” for life. We are committed to ensuring that almost 500 deserving Island children attend Oak Acres Children’s Camp each summer.
